The Afghan Journalists Center has strongly condemned the Taliban government's recent ban on the use of smartphones by government employees. The organization warned that this directive would severely restrict journalists' access to crucial local information and news sources.

The Taliban leadership recently ordered both civilian and military personnel to stop using smartphones at work and home. This restriction has been communicated across more than twenty provinces, with violators facing the threat of military court proceedings.

Sources indicate that the ban is enforced selectively, targeting ordinary employees while senior officials continue to use their devices. Videos circulating on social media also show security forces breaking smartphones to enforce the controversial new policy.
