The Daily Mail has reported that two Afghans have been arrested in the United States on charges of stealing equipment from the England national football team. These individuals had previously received American citizenship due to their collaboration with the US military against the Taliban government.
Mustafa Salik and Irfan Kamal are accused of stealing over eighteen thousand dollars worth of sports equipment from a vehicle transporting the England team's gear. Most of these items, including sportswear and signed shirts, have been successfully recovered and returned.
Defense lawyers for these two Afghans consider the theft charge a misunderstanding. The court has reduced their bail amount and ordered the confiscation of their passports. If convicted, they could face a maximum of seven years in prison.
