The WHO representative in Afghanistan stated that investing in prevention and expanding access to healthcare services can help patients recover and positively contribute to their communities. The organization currently supports numerous addiction treatment centers and mobile health teams across various Afghan provinces.
Despite the ban on poppy cultivation by the Taliban government, Afghanistan continues to face widespread challenges related to drug use. The WHO called on international donors to maintain their support to ensure the continuation and expansion of these vital rehabilitation services.
