The Taliban government has announced that at least thirty six civilians, mostly women and children, were killed during recent nighttime airstrikes by the Pakistani military in eastern Afghanistan. Furthermore, more than one hundred and sixty people sustained injuries in these attacks.

According to the official statement, the deadliest incident occurred in the Samkani district of Paktia province. Pakistani fighter jets reportedly bombed a residential house and then targeted local residents who had gathered to rescue the victims. Similar strikes completely destroyed homes in Paktika and Kunar provinces.

Pakistan has rejected the accusations of causing civilian casualties, claiming they successfully targeted militant hideouts instead. These cross border military operations have significantly escalated diplomatic tensions between the Taliban government and Pakistani authorities.
