A fresh polio vaccination campaign is set to begin tomorrow in Nuristan province and five districts of Kunar province. The initiative aims to protect children and prevent the spread of the paralyzing virus.
Health workers will administer both injectable and oral vaccines to young children. This dual approach is designed to significantly boost their immune systems against this highly contagious and dangerous disease.
Currently, Afghanistan and Pakistan remain the only two countries globally where polio is still endemic. Several positive human and environmental cases have already been recorded in Afghanistan this year.
