Local officials of the Taliban government in Nangarhar province reported the arrival of dozens of humanitarian aid trucks. Fifty-six trucks belonging to the United Nations successfully entered Afghan territory via the Torkham border crossing today.
This critical aid primarily includes medical equipment provided by the World Health Organization for hospitals across the country. Local authorities claim that Pakistan demanded financial payments from international organizations to allow these essential shipments to cross the border.
Border crossings between the two neighboring countries have faced severe restrictions for nearly a year. Despite these challenges, Pakistan currently permits only deported Afghan migrants and international relief convoys to pass through these specific border areas.
