Heavy rainfall and subsequent massive flooding across various parts of Nuristan province have resulted in the tragic deaths of at least twenty people.
The disaster management authority of the Taliban government stated that around eighty individuals were injured and over one hundred remain missing. Parun, the provincial capital, has also suffered extensive physical damage.
Afghanistan remains highly vulnerable to natural disasters. These ongoing severe weather events have caused immense physical and financial devastation to the local communities living in the region.
