The Pakistani military has announced that a militant attack on a security checkpost in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province left 15 people dead. The incident occurred early Friday morning in Tank district, resulting in the deaths of 12 soldiers, two police officers, and a former forestry official.
Attackers rammed a car bomb into the perimeter wall of the checkpost, causing massive destruction and heavy casualties. Pakistani forces reported that 12 militants were also killed during the ensuing firefight. The military has blamed the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan for the assault.
Pakistan claims these attacks are being orchestrated from Afghan soil. However, the Afghan government has consistently denied these allegations, accusing Pakistani officials of failing to secure their own country.
