A passenger bus (type 580) overturned Monday night on the Kabul-Kandahar highway in the Bakurzo area of Qalat city, the capital of Zabul province.
Mirwais Afghan, the Taliban's public health chief in Zabul, confirmed that 49 people were injured and all were transferred to the Zabul provincial hospital in Qalat.
No fatalities have been reported so far. Experts cite speeding and driver negligence as the main causes of such accidents, despite Taliban claims of installing GPS systems in passenger buses.
