Moldova's President Maia Sandu has described the Taliban delegation's visit to her country as "disgraceful" and warned that officials who facilitated the trip will face disciplinary action. The visit took place earlier this week.
Moldova's Foreign Ministry confirmed on Monday that it issued visas to a Taliban Agriculture Ministry delegation, but stressed that no official bilateral meetings would take place. The Prime Minister had also called the visit "shameful and unacceptable."
Sandu said agriculture ministry officials had failed to check Moldova's policy toward the Afghan government. Moldova does not recognize the Taliban government and remains committed to all international sanctions against the group.
