The Taliban's public health directorate in Helmand announced the closure of 16 health centers in Kajaki district due to violations of health regulations and poor service quality. A monitoring team had inspected 89 health centers across the district.
The closed facilities include diagnostic centers, dental clinics, pharmacies, and laboratories. Reasons cited include unprofessional operations, lack of required documents, and failure to meet health standards.
This comes as Afghanistan's health system already faces severe budget shortfalls and declining services, making access to healthcare increasingly difficult for ordinary citizens.
