The Republic Front of Afghanistan said its forces attacked a Taliban checkpoint in District 13 of Kabul on Friday evening, 13 Sunbula. In the attack, two hand grenades were thrown at a Taliban Ranger vehicle, causing casualties and damage. Taliban officials have not yet commented.
According to a statement posted on the group's Facebook, the fighters left the area after throwing the grenades. The Republic Front also stressed continuing armed struggle against the Taliban.
The group is a newly formed armed opposition led by Tahir Zahir, former governor of Bamyan, and has been active mainly in central Afghanistan.
