Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid called Pakistan s decision to expel Afghan medical students inhumane and regrettable and urged Islamabad to reconsider. He said the Taliban Higher Education Ministry is ready to accept returning students.
However the Taliban have banned women and girls from higher education especially in medicine. Afghan female students say returning home means losing their chance to continue university studies.
Amnesty International called the move discriminatory and some Pakistani politicians have also demanded a review.
