Following an increase in attacks by armed opposition groups, a high-level delegation from the Taliban government has traveled to Badakhshan and Takhar provinces to assess the security situation and vulnerable areas. The delegation includes representatives from the Taliban's intelligence directorate, Ministry of Defense, and Ministry of Interior.

The Taliban-controlled Bakhtar Information Agency, quoting Badakhshan's police spokesman Ehsanullah Kamgar, reported that the delegation visited vulnerable areas in the two northeastern provinces on Monday, October 4. The stated purpose of the visit was to monitor troop readiness and inspect the condition of border areas.

According to the report, the Taliban delegation visited parts of the Kuran wa Munjan district in Badakhshan and the Warsaj district in Takhar. The trip comes as attacks by anti-Taliban groups, including the National Resistance Front (NRF) and the Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF), have intensified in these regions in recent months, inflicting casualties on Taliban forces.

Clashes in Badakhshan's Zibak district and concerns that the conflict could spread to adjacent districts like Kuran wa Munjan and Warsaj are considered primary reasons for this visit. These areas, with their mountainous and rugged terrain, are suitable for guerrilla activities by armed opposition groups.

In Takhar province, Taliban officials have also expressed concern about the security situation in the Warsaj district. This district borders Kuran wa Munjan in Badakhshan and could serve as a corridor for expanding opposition activities. The Taliban's governor for Takhar has visited Warsaj twice in the past two months, deploying additional forces to reinforce security checkpoints.

This visit highlights the Taliban's serious concern over the growing military activities of opposition forces in the country's northeast. The expanding presence of armed groups in these mountainous regions could make security control more difficult for the Taliban and pose a significant challenge to their rule.
