Local sources in Ghor province report that a young woman named Nuria has died in the Tiora district as a result of severe torture by her husband. It is reported that parts of her body were burned with a hot object.
According to a report by Afghanistan International, which also received videos of the victim, signs of injury and severe burns are visible on various parts of Nuria's body. Sources added that she was severely beaten before her death.
According to these sources, the horrific incident occurred in the presence of Nuria's four children, three daughters and one son. The woman's husband, who had recently returned to Afghanistan from Iran, has been identified as the main perpetrator of this deadly violence.
It is said that before the incident, a verbal altercation occurred between Nuria and her mother-in-law. The conflict escalated after Nuria's husband intervened, leading to the torture and death of the young woman. Nuria's body remained in the house for about 24 hours after her death.
This event is another example of severe domestic violence against women in Afghanistan, which has reportedly increased since the Taliban's takeover and the restriction of women's access to justice and support institutions. Women's rights activists have repeatedly expressed concern about the rise in violence against women in the absence of the rule of law.
Local sources also stated that the day after the incident, Nuria's husband "confessed" to the murder and surrendered himself to local Taliban forces. It remains unclear how the Taliban will handle the case.
