The National Resistance Front (NRF) of Afghanistan has strongly denied any connection to the ISIS group and condemned its activities, responding to what it called a "propaganda and rumor-mongering campaign."

In a statement, the NRF described the Taliban and ISIS as "two sides of the same coin," arguing that both groups are nourished by "the same ideological source." The front asserted that the rivalry between the two is primarily a struggle for power and influence, not a genuine ideological conflict.

The NRF further stated that the Taliban government attempts to attribute the activities of extremist groups to its own opponents in a strategy of "creating enemies." According to the NRF, the Taliban aims to discredit its political and military adversaries by falsely linking them to groups like ISIS.

Formed after the Taliban took control of Afghanistan in August 2021, the National Resistance Front, led by Ahmad Massoud, comprises former security forces and figures opposed to Taliban rule. It continues to engage in political and armed resistance against the current government.

This statement comes amid unconfirmed reports on social media in recent months that suggested potential collaboration between some anti-Taliban factions and ISIS. The NRF has dismissed these claims as baseless, reaffirming its commitment to fighting all forms of extremism.

The National Resistance Front concluded its statement by reiterating its goal of establishing a democratic system based on the will of the people in Afghanistan, and that it will never cooperate with groups that share the same extremist goals as the Taliban.
