The Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) announced on Wednesday, October 7, that 11 Taliban members were killed and eight others were wounded in a clash in the Kamdesh district of Nuristan province. In a statement, the front said the fighting began after Taliban fighters attacked the positions of its commandos.

According to the AFF's statement, Taliban forces, "after suffering defeat and heavy casualties" in recent days, attacked the front's forces again on Wednesday morning in Kamdesh. The front claims its forces repelled the attacks and forced the Taliban fighters to retreat with a "large and coordinated" counter-attack.

The Freedom Front did not provide information about potential casualties among its own forces. Meanwhile, local sources speaking to Afghanistan International confirmed that clashes occurred between the Taliban and the AFF in Nuristan. However, the front's claims regarding Taliban casualties and control of areas have not yet been independently verified.

The anti-Taliban front also claimed that its commandos have an "active and strong presence" in their positions in areas of Kamdesh that they say have been "liberated." The statement added that AFF forces have full control over the situation in villages and surrounding areas of Kamdesh.

According to the Freedom Front, the Taliban transported their wounded to health centers in Kamdesh district and the city of Parun, the center of Nuristan province. This claim could also not be independently verified.

The Afghanistan Freedom Front has recently expanded its attacks against the Taliban government in several provinces. On Wednesday, the front also reported two other attacks on the Taliban in Badakhshan and Kapisa provinces, claiming to have killed at least seven Taliban fighters in those two attacks.
