Informed sources told media outlets that the Taliban have arrested General Allahdad Fadaie, a former police commander in several provinces. He was reportedly detained by Taliban intelligence agents in Kabul.

According to the sources, the Taliban transferred the former military official to an unknown location after his arrest, and his family has no information about his condition or whereabouts. Mr. Fadaie's relatives have confirmed his detention and expressed deep concern for his fate.

Taliban government officials have not yet formally commented on the arrest of the former police commander or the reasons for it. However, sources within the Taliban administration have claimed that weapons and ammunition were discovered and confiscated during a search of Mr. Fadaie's house.

General Fadaie served as the police commander in Maidan Wardak, Baghlan, Nimroz, and Laghman provinces under the previous government. He was considered a well-known and experienced commander within the security structure of the republic.

After the fall of the previous government in August 2021, Allahdad Fadaie migrated to Iran but had returned to Kabul last year. His return occurred despite the Taliban's declaration of a general amnesty, but in practice, the arrest, torture, and killing of former military personnel and government employees have been widely reported.

Nearly two years ago, Mr. Fadaie said in a video message that the Taliban had seized his private home in Laghman province. His arrest has heightened concerns about the safety of former government officials and security forces who remain in Afghanistan. Source: Afghanistan International
