Renowned Afghan singer Shaperei Naghma has received a prestigious award from the "Eurasia Scientific and Research Center" in the United States for her civil and artistic activities in support of the rights of Afghan women and girls.

While presenting the award, Haroon Hakimi, the head of the center, said that Naghma's rich art and decades of effort have "globalized the hidden but truth-seeking voice of defenseless Afghan women and girls." The award was given in recognition of her continuous struggle for the basic rights of Afghan women.

A press release from the center stated that the award was granted to Naghma in honor of her ongoing artistic and civil struggle for the restoration of education, work, and other fundamental human rights for Afghan girls.

Upon receiving the award, Ms. Naghma called on the international community not to abandon Afghan women. She emphasized that she will continue her artistic endeavors until girls' schools are reopened and their rights are secured.

The artist, who is considered an enduring figure in Afghan music, has consistently stood with the people, especially women, through her civil stances. Many view her as a symbol of resistance and hope for the women of Afghanistan.

Naghma, originally from Kandahar, began her artistic activities in the 1980s and, over more than four decades, has kept the hope, dignity, and resilience of Afghan women alive through her voice.
