The lawyer for the murder case of Yama Siawash, former TOLOnews presenter and media advisor to Afghanistan central bank, announced that the case remains under active review by the International Criminal Court prosecutor and United Nations mechanisms.

Six years have passed since Siawash was killed in a vehicle explosion in Kabul, with neither the perpetrators identified nor justice served. The investigation by the former Afghan government faced severe criticism from media organizations and the victim's family.

According to Amu TV, the Siawash family consistently raised serious questions regarding his hiring upon the insistence of then central bank acting governor Ajmal Ahmady, as well as the missing GPS data and security camera footage of the official vehicle.

In April 2021, the former administration announced the arrest of 11 individuals linked to bombings including Siawash's assassination, but the final outcome and judicial proceedings were never clarified to the public.

Human Rights Watch stated in November 2022 that the previous government failed to carry out an exhaustive investigation, neglected to preserve critical explosion scene evidence, and prosecuted no suspects for the attack.

Mohammad Dawood Siawash, Yama's father who relentlessly pursued justice, passed away in Germany in September 2023 without evidence of foul play. Afghan journalists continue to demand that all evidence be submitted to the ICC in The Hague to achieve accountability.
