A traffic accident in Baghlan province’s Palfi Pass killed 9 people and injured 7 others on Wednesday.
The Taliban security command reported that a passenger vehicle veered off the road and overturned into a valley, causing the deadly incident.
According to the statement, two women were among the fatalities and four children among the injured.
This accident occurs amid a significant increase in traffic incidents across the country in recent months, highlighting growing road safety concerns.
In just the past three days, besides these 9 victims, 13 others died in separate traffic accidents in Badakhshan and Nangarhar provinces.
Palfi Pass is recognized as one of the most dangerous routes connecting Pul-e-Khumri, Baghlan’s center, with three districts of the province.
Driver negligence and inadequate road infrastructure are cited as primary causes of these frequent fatal accidents that occur annually on this treacherous mountain pass.
