Zabihullah Mujahid, the chief spokesman for the Taliban, stated in an interview with Al Arabiya that recent Pakistani airstrikes on Afghan soil will not go unanswered. He declared that a response is “inevitable” and will be military in nature, asserting Afghanistan’s right to defend its sovereignty.
Mujahid drew a distinction between the two sides, accusing Islamabad of targeting civilians while promising that Taliban forces would strictly target Pakistani military assets. He warned that the current administration in Kabul will not remain silent in the face of what he termed “aggression.”
These strong words mark a significant escalation in tensions between the neighboring countries. While Mujahid did not specify the timing or tactics of the planned retaliation, he emphasized that the action would be taken at a time and manner deemed appropriate by Kabul.
