The leader of the Taliban government, Hibatullah Akhundzada, has issued a new decree setting a three-month deadline for filing appeals in appellate and supreme courts. The directive, published by the supreme court, requires disputing parties to register their complaints within this specific timeframe.
According to the new rules, individuals protesting the decisions of primary courts must file their appeals to the appellate court within one month and to the supreme court within three months. This measure is reportedly aimed at regulating the judicial process across the country.
Previously, under the former Afghan government, the legal deadline for appeals was twenty days, and supreme court reviews took ten days. The Taliban government has abolished most of the former laws since returning to power in Afghanistan.
