Iranian judicial authorities have officially announced the transfer of 164 Afghan prisoners back to the Taliban government. The handover was successfully executed through the Milak border crossing as part of an ongoing bilateral agreement.

This recent transfer marks the eleventh phase of the convict extradition agreement between the two nations, allowing prisoners to serve the remainder of their sentences in Afghanistan. These specific individuals were previously incarcerated across prisons in six different Iranian provinces.

Currently, thousands of Afghan citizens remain imprisoned in Iran for various offenses, including illegal entry and drug-related crimes. The Taliban government has consistently requested that Iranian authorities accelerate the extradition process to bring these citizens home.
