The United Nations announced in its latest quarterly report that the Taliban government continues to administer physical punishment to Afghan citizens. This ongoing practice has raised significant human rights concerns internationally.
According to the official findings, at least one hundred and thirty seven individuals were flogged by Taliban government forces between April and June of this year. The victims include one hundred and twelve men and twenty five women.
Despite a noticeable decrease in official announcements regarding these public punishments, the report indicates that several floggings have still been carried out in public spaces, drawing widespread condemnation from various global human rights defenders.
