Italy, in partnership with UNESCO, has launched an emergency project to stabilize and restore the Blue Mosque of Mazar-e-Sharif, which was damaged in a 6.3-magnitude earthquake last November.
The Blue Mosque, also known as the Shrine of Ali, dates back to the Timurid era and is one of Afghanistan's most significant historic landmarks. The project aims to protect Afghanistan's cultural heritage while also creating employment opportunities for local communities.
Italy and UNESCO reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the Afghan people and preserving the country's historical monuments through this joint initiative.
