A senior official of the International Committee of the Red Cross warned that Afghans are "struggling to survive" amid a severe humanitarian crisis, urging the international community not to abandon the Afghan people. Yasmeen Praz Desimoz made the remarks during a visit to Kabul.

UNICEF has warned that around one million Afghan children face life-threatening malnutrition, while 3.7 million suffer from acute malnutrition. The United Nations also stated that cuts in international aid have forced the closure of around 100 child malnutrition treatment clinics across Afghanistan.

The ICRC currently supports 46 clinics and seven rehabilitation centers in Afghanistan. Praz Desimoz also expressed concern over Taliban restrictions on women, warning that without education for girls, there will be no future female workforce for the health sector.
