The local news agency Haalvsh has reported that at least five members of the Fatemiyoun Division have been killed in an armed attack in Zahedan, the capital of Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan province. The attack occurred on Friday morning, October 2nd.

According to Haalvsh, which covers news from the region, the incident took place while a vehicle carrying Fatemiyoun forces was patrolling the Kaleh-Padeh route in the Roodmahi area. Citing eyewitnesses and local sources, the agency wrote that an "explosive trap" first detonated in the vehicle's path.

Following the explosion, unidentified armed individuals opened fire on the vehicle's occupants. Local sources stated that at least five members of the Fatemiyoun Division were killed in this combined attack. The identities of the deceased have not yet been released.

Haalvsh also added that a DShK heavy machine gun was mounted on the back of the vehicle, and as a result of the explosion and gunfire, the vehicle was completely destroyed.

This marks the second deadly attack against Fatemiyoun members in the Roodmahi area of Zahedan in less than a month. Haalvsh previously reported that on September 10, at least four Fatemiyoun members were killed by gunfire while patrolling in the same area.

The Fatemiyoun Division is a militia composed of Afghan Shia fighters, backed by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The group has been primarily active in the Syrian civil war, but reports suggest Iran also uses its members for domestic security purposes, especially in border regions like Sistan and Baluchestan.

The province has witnessed numerous clashes between Iranian security forces and armed opposition groups in recent years. No group has yet claimed responsibility for this attack.
