American actress Selma Blair was arrested following an alleged physical altercation on a Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles to New York. The incident, which occurred on Sunday night, reportedly left two flight attendants injured. Blair has since pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Authorities from the Port Authority responded to reports of a physically abusive passenger aboard the flight upon its arrival at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). Blair was taken into custody by police and subsequently transported to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.
A representative for the actress stated on Monday that Blair had experienced a "medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct." The representative noted that she received immediate medical attention and was in stable condition but did not provide further details about the nature of the emergency.
Two flight attendants reported injuries resulting from the altercation. One of them was taken to a hospital for further evaluation. According to dispatch audio obtained by CNN, medical personnel were initially requested to meet the flight to attend to two crew members. The audio later detailed minor injuries, including a bloody nose and bite marks, although it did not specify who sustained which injury.
The dispatch audio also mentioned that the passenger might have hit her head against the aircraft's bulkhead during the incident. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has confirmed it is now investigating the matter.
Blair, known for her roles in films such as "Legally Blonde" and "Hellboy," is facing assault charges. The case has drawn significant media attention, and Blair appeared in Queens Criminal Court on Monday afternoon where she entered her not guilty plea.
