Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of Iran's Parliament, has told Pakistan's Army Chief, General Asim Munir, that the United States must implement Iran's seven conditions to regain Tehran's trust.
According to Iranian media, during the meeting in Tehran, Mr. Ghalibaf stated, "We have nothing new to say, and the US cannot earn Iran's trust except by implementing the seven conditions presented in New York." He added that after Donald Trump's violation of the "Islamabad Agreement," the wall of mistrust between the two countries has grown even higher.
General Munir is visiting Tehran as a mediator between Iran and the US, aiming to initiate a new round of efforts to ing both sides back to the negotiating table. He also met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, though details of their discussion have not been released.
The Iranian Parliament Speaker also remarked, "We are not warmongers, but we are fully prepared to defend our homeland and national dignity." He stressed that threats cannot influence Iran's strategic decisions.
In a separate meeting, Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, told the Pakistani general that there would be no negotiations until the US takes steps to build trust. He described the fulfillment of Iran's conditions as the starting point for this trust-building and emphasized that "not even an iota of enriched nuclear material will be taken out of Iran."
Iran and the US, with Pakistan's mediation, signed the "Islamabad Agreement" in June, but the accord quickly collapsed. Iran recently presented a new plan on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly and is awaiting a response from the US.
