Ghani Emphasizes Need for Stability and Legitimacy for Investment in Afghanistan
The former President of Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani, in the fourteenth episode of his podcast series “The Way of Life” released on Thursday, June 3, emphasized the need for stability in governance, rule of law, and legitimacy to attract investment in Afghanistan. Dr. Ghani said that without internal, regional, and international legitimacy, the massive investment required to transform Afghanistan’s resources into investments for the welfare of the people and the creation of regional and international relations will not take place. He added that without the rule of law and transparency, the desired results from investment cannot be achieved. Ghani warned that if resources are used illegally, it will benefit “networks” rather than developing infrastructure and sustainable welfare for the Afghan people. He said without providing further details that if resources are to be used illegally, it is the work of “networks.
