Kamala Harris Breaks Record for Campaign Fundraising
The campaign team of Kamala Harris, former Vice President of the United States, announced that they raised an unprecedented $81 million in campaign contributions within the first 24 hours of her announcing her candidacy for the 2024 presidential election. This figure is part of the $49.6 million that Harris’ campaign has raised since Joe Biden, the current president, withdrew from the race.
According to Reuters, Harris’ campaign team is working to secure the support of the majority of the roughly 4,000 delegates to the Democratic Party convention, which is necessary to finalize her nomination, by Wednesday evening.
On the other hand, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., one of Harris’ election rivals, accused her of deception regarding Joe Biden’s health condition. Kennedy claimed that despite daily contact with the president and being aware of his poor physical condition, Harris denied this issue to maintain her position.
Joe Biden, the 46th President of the United States, finally withdrew from the election race on November 5, 2024, after a weak performance in a controversial debate that caused serious concerns within the Democratic Party. He endorsed Kamala Harris’ candidacy upon his withdrawal.
