Amrullah Saleh, former Vice President of Afghanistan, strongly criticized a recent New York Times report that called Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Interior Minister of the Taliban, the “lone dissenting voice” against the policies of Mullah Hibatullah.
Saleh said Haqqani, who is wanted by the U.S., has been portrayed as a “hero” by the newspaper.
He also viewed the recent BRICS summit in Russia as a sign of the decline of the Western-centric world order.
The U.S. designated the Haqqani network as a terrorist group in 2012 and has offered a $10 million reward for Sirajuddin Haqqani’s arrest.
