In a recent social media post on Wednesday, Russell highlighted how women’s voices in Afghanistan are being silenced and their dreams denied. She pointed out that girls excluded from schools and confined to homes face limited prospects beyond early marriage to a new UN assessment, Taliban policies have significantly impacted family attitudes toward girls’ education in Afghanistan. The fear of Taliban repercussions and strengthening patriarchal norms have reduced support for girls’ education, leading to an increase in early marriages.
