Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian declared during the government’s “Nuclear Technology Day” program that Iran is not seeking to build nuclear bombs. He firmly stated: “We will not back down from our achievements and we will not negotiate them away,” adding that Iran desires peace, security, and dialogue.

Pezeshkian also reminded that Iran did not intend to leave the JCPOA, but was forced to react due to repeated threats from the opposing side. The Islamic Republic of Iran has been under intense international pressure since 2006 due to its nuclear program.

The nuclear agreement known as the JCPOA was signed in 2015 between Iran and the P5+1 group, entailing reduced uranium enrichment in exchange for sanctions relief. Iran has consistently maintained that its nuclear activities are peaceful, while simultaneously refusing to halt its technical advancements.
