Protests in the Moro area of Pakistan’s Sindh province have escalated into violence.

Demonstrators opposing the expansion of a canal project in the region attacked and set fire to the house of Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, the Home Minister of the province.

Local residents consider the provincial government’s initiative to be unjust and have been actively protesting against it.

According to Pakistani media reports, when police attempted to disperse the protesters, the situation spiraled out of control.

During the ensuing clashes, four police officers were injured. This incident highlights the growing tensions between local communities and government authorities over development projects and resource management in the region.

As of now, Pakistani officials have not issued an official response to the incident. Additional security forces have reportedly been deployed to the area to bring the situation under control.

The protests in Moro reflect deep-seated dissatisfaction among the public regarding government decisions about local resources and infrastructure projects.
