A new British food security and nutrition program aims to cover half a million vulnerable Afghans this year.

Motomi Gichara, Second Secretary for Economics, Humanitarian Assistance and Liaison at the British Political Mission for Afghanistan Affairs, said this program is funded by British financial aid and seeks to make people self-sufficient in producing their needed food and reduce their vulnerability to climate change.

According to the provided information, under this program, Afghans will have access to drought-resistant seeds, more nutritious products, better water reserves, irrigation, and flood defense systems.

Sustainable agriculture training will also be provided for farmers, and half of the beneficiaries will be women to help improve Afghan women’s livelihoods.
The program, known as “PREVALE,” will be implemented in cooperation with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the British charity “AfghanAid.” Hamish Falkner,

Minister for the Middle East, Afghanistan and Pakistan, said the program is part of Britain’s efforts to strengthen food security and improve the nutritional status of half a million Afghans.

The participation of women in this program is a sign of Britain’s commitment to supporting women’s rights and equal access to humanitarian aid.
