According to reports received by 8 AM Newspaper, four individuals including two children and two teenagers have committed suicide in Khost province during the past 72 hours.
In the most recent case on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, a young man who had recently graduated from Sheikh Zayed University in Khost ended his life in the “Khader Pirano” area.
Sources say this young man was struggling with unemployment and hopelessness after completing his university studies.
Previously, the suicide of a teenager named Bilal was also reported. On Sunday, in two separate incidents, a 13-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl took their lives in this province.
According to sources, economic problems and domestic violence were cited as the causes of these tragic events.
Findings by 8 AM Newspaper indicate that 14 individuals, mostly teenagers, have committed suicide in Khost province over the past four months.
Last year, 72 suicide cases were reported in this province, which were confirmed by the Taliban police command in Khost.
Poverty, hopelessness, unemployment, and domestic violence have been reported as the main factors leading to suicides in this province.
Meanwhile, the Taliban group has banned the publication of suicide news in Khost.
