Amrullah Saleh, the exiled Vice President of Afghanistan, has sharply criticized Zalmay Khalilzad for his comments about the Taliban opposition meeting in Islamabad.
Saleh stated that Khalilzad has only just realized in mid-August 2025 that Pakistan’s ISI invites Afghans through its covert institutions with “sinister plans.”
In his statement, Saleh accused Khalilzad of remaining silent about the Quetta Council, Kachlagh, the Haqqani Network, and ISI’s sending of “tons of explosives to destroy the republic.
” He pointedly asked: “Didn’t Khalilzad facilitate Mullah Baradar’s visit to the suicide center in Quetta and visits to injured Taliban in Karachi?”
Saleh, who has previously accused Khalilzad of betrayal and collusion with the Taliban, concluded that if “shamelessness and stupidity” had a “meme,” it would be Khalilzad.
