Radika Rajavarma, a 42-year-old Indian-origin Singaporean, was sentenced to over five years in jail for offering a SGD 1,000 bribe to police officers to allow her to smoke a cigarette.

The repeat drug abuser pleaded guilty on Thursday to multiple offenses including drug consumption and offering a bribevarma had been in and out of jail since 2018 for drug abuse and was last convicted of methamphetamine consumption in 2020 .

She was released on bail in June 2022 and placed on a remission order for five years .


This case demonstrates Singapore’s strict stance against drug abuse and corruption.

Authorities take serious action against any attempts to bribe police officers.

The incident occurred in October 2022 when she was desperate to smoke one last cigarette.
