This action is part of a broader trend of banning images of living beings across Afghanistan.
In addition to closing the television station, Taliban officials in the province are no longer allowed to give interviews to media outlets under their control or private media.
These restrictions are being implemented based on the law of promoting virtue and preventing vice signed by the Taliban leader.
The process of converting television to radio has been implemented in several other provinces. Recently in Kandahar, YouTuber activities were also banned due to photo and video restrictions, and this trend is expanding to other provinces.
