In Bagram of Charikar city, center of Parwan province, only one semi-dark shop remains from dozens of coppersmith workshops.

Ahmad Farhad, the last coppersmith of this area, sits beside a small furnace with a bent stature and hands that remember years of hardship, still crafting copper trays and pots.

He says he hasn’t left his furnace for two reasons: earning bread and preventing the destruction of his father’s heritage.

In the past, copper utensils were part of household items for citizens, but now they have been replaced by plastic and glass containers.

Most of Ahmad Farhad’s customers are those who sell their copper items out of necessity.

He says: “The painful part is that people who have these utensils as their only dowry sell them due to economic hardship.” Ahmad Farhad asks the government to support this industry.
