The first annual “Caravan Hala” festival for contemporary Afghan literature has launched in Mashhad, Iran.

This event aims to preserve the Persian language and showcase outstanding poetry and prose works from Afghan writers and poets.

The festival’s biggest prize is 70 million tomans for the book of the year in poetry and fiction categories.

The poetry section is named after Khalilullah Khalili, while the fiction section honors Mohammad Azam Rahnavard Zaryab’s memory.

Organizers announced that works published in 2023 and 2024 can participate in this competition.

The festival will provide fresh motivation for young Afghan writers in poetry and literature fields, especially given current restrictions in Afghanistan.
