Quebec’s independent police investigation bureau has launched an inquiry into the killing of Noran Rezaei, a 15-year-old Afghan teenager.

He was shot dead by police on Sunday, September 21st, in Montreal’s Saint-Hubert-Longueuil area after officers responded to an emergency call.

Police arrived at the residential scene following reports of armed youth in the area.

During the intervention, an officer fired his weapon, fatally wounding Rezaei.

The victim’s parents are demanding justice, stating their son was innocent and only carried books in his backpack.

Fifteen investigators are working on the case, reviewing seven videos of the incident. Only one weapon was found at the scene – belonging to the police officer who fired.

No evidence suggests the victim was armed, according to investigation officials.
