Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Ibrahim Sadr, senior security deputy of the Taliban’s Interior Ministry, met in Tehran during the Economic Cooperation Organization ministers’ meeting with Iran’s mediation.

This meeting occurred amid the failure of four-day Istanbul negotiations and severe tensions between the two countries.

Fars News Agency released a video showing Naqvi and Sadr in a friendly atmosphere during their discussion. Ibrahim Sadr, who attended the meeting instead of Sirajuddin Haqqani, is close to Hibatullah Akhundzada and maintains close relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The meeting took place while Pakistan-Taliban relations are at their most critical point due to border security issues and support for anti-Pakistan groups. Iran had previously announced its readiness to mediate between the two sides

. This diplomatic effort comes as both countries face ongoing challenges in regional stability and cross-border terrorism concerns.
