Khawaja Asif, Pakistan’s Defense Minister, announced that if the Taliban group shows signs of changing its approach toward cross-border attacks, the suspended talks between the two sides in Istanbul will resume.

He told Geo News that Pakistan’s delegation is still present in Istanbul, but negotiations have not practically resumed.

The talks between Pakistani and Taliban delegations that began on Saturday in Istanbul have reached a deadlock due to disagreements over terrorist attacks from Afghan soil.

Pakistan’s Defense Minister emphasized that Islamabad’s main condition is that no attacks should be launched against Pakistan from Afghan territory and the Taliban group should not support such attacks.

Khawaja Asif added that if there is a change in Kabul’s behavior, at the request of two friendly countries Turkey and Qatar, talks may resume. He warned that if the Taliban group in Afghanistan persists in its stubbornness, Pakistan will act accordingly.

Some Pakistani sources claim that the Taliban delegation is still present in Istanbul.
