Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, announced at the 23rd Doha Forum that his country is working to resolve disputes between the Taliban and Pakistan.
He stressed that regional crises like those in Afghanistan and Palestine cannot be solved without involving key players.
The Qatari foreign minister highlighted Afghanistan’s instability and said the country needs inclusive political participation.
Qatar hosted years of Afghan peace talks and, after military tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan, organized the first round of negotiations in Doha, which led to a ceasefire agreement.
However, subsequent rounds in Istanbul ended without results, and the ceasefire collapsed. Qatar continues to play an active mediating role in Afghan affairs.
