Sarah Adams, a former CIA officer, has issued a stark warning claiming that the Taliban has compiled a “kill list” targeting approximately 1,000 individuals.
In a post on X, she alleged that this threat extends beyond Afghanistan’s borders, with some of the targeted individuals currently residing within the United States.
Adams highlighted the case of Jan Shah Safi, stating he was falsely accused of being an ISIS-K member while actually being a target on this list.
Her claims have sparked renewed anxiety among the Afghan diaspora and political activists living in Western countries regarding their safety and the reach of the Taliban’s intelligence operations.
This revelation comes amidst a series of reports concerning the targeted killings of former military personnel and anti-Taliban figures in neighboring regions.
While neither US officials nor the Taliban have formally responded to these specific allegations, the report underscores the growing concerns about transnational repression.
