A delegation from the Taliban Ministry of Commerce has visited Bangladesh to negotiate better market access for Afghan products. Deputy Minister Ahmadullah Zahid proposed a plan to eliminate tariffs on nearly 45 Afghan items, including cotton.
In exchange, the group offered to remove tariffs on major Bangladeshi exports such as garments, medicines, and spices. This initiative aims to secure a larger share of the market for Afghan dried fruits, saffron, and gemstones.
However, Bangladeshi officials clarified that the meeting was informal and no written agreements have been exchanged yet. The discussions highlight efforts to expand regional trade ties and boost exports for Afghanistan.
