Taliban police in the Bati Kot district of Nangarhar have arrested five individuals for illegally cutting down approximately 50 peach trees. The provincial police spokesman confirmed the arrests, citing the destruction of fruit-bearing trees.
Officials stated that the suspects have confessed to the act and are currently under interrogation before being handed over to judicial bodies.
Although cutting down productive trees is illegal, economic hardship often drives such actions in rural areas. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to prosecuting those who damage local agriculture and greenery.
